    Sign up to QwikEat. Verify your business (ID + bank details, takes 3 minutes) so payouts can land in your account.

    Enable Tap to Pay

    On any iPhone XS or newer, turn on the Tap to Pay setting in QwikEat. The first time, Apple walks you through a one-minute setup.

    Take your first payment

    Open the QwikEat POS, ring up an order, hand the phone over. The guest taps card, phone or watch. Done in 3 seconds.

Frequently asked questions

Which phones support Tap to Pay?
Any iPhone XS (2018) or newer running iOS 16.4+. The NFC reader is built into the phone, so there's nothing else to buy. Android support for tap-to-pay on phone is coming, with Google's rollout.
Do I need an iPad or a card reader on top?
No. The iPhone is the terminal. If you already use the QwikEat tablet POS on iPad, you can take Tap to Pay from either device.
When does the money hit my bank?
Daily settlement, usually next business day. You can see what's owed to you in the dashboard at any time.
What does it cost per transaction?
Stripe's standard processing fee, plus a small QwikEat fee per card order, detailed on our pricing page. Never a percentage commission on the sale, and no per-device fee.
Is it secure?
It's certified PCI-compliant and uses Apple's Secure Element on iPhone. Card numbers never touch your phone or our servers; they're handled by the payment processor directly.
Can I take a phone payment without an order in QwikEat?
Yes. There's a Quick Charge button that lets you type any amount and take a tap payment in two taps. Useful for tips, on-account top-ups, or one-off charges.
What about tips?
Built in. The guest sees three preset tip buttons (you set the percentages) and a Skip option. Tips go to the right server's shift automatically.
How much does it cost?
QwikEat is a simple monthly plan, and every plan starts with a 30-day free trial. 0% commission on every order; card payments carry a small processing fee. Plans and details are on our pricing page.
Do I still need a card terminal at all?
No. The contactless reader inside the iPhone does the job a rented terminal does. There is no device to order, no contract to sign, and nothing to send back if you stop using it.
What if a guest's card is not contactless?
Almost every card issued in the last few years taps. If one does not, the guest can pay with the same card loaded into their phone wallet, or you take it as cash and mark the order paid in QwikEat.
Is there a limit on the amount?
Contactless limits on the plastic card are set by the issuing bank and sit around 50 euros across most of Europe. Apple Pay and Google Pay have no such ceiling, because the phone has already identified the guest with Face ID or a PIN.
Can I refund a payment?
Yes, in full or in part, from the order in the dashboard or the app. The money goes back to the card it came from. No terminal needed for that either.
What about printed tickets?
Receipts go out by email or SMS by default, so there is no paper roll to buy. If you want printed tickets, pair a Bluetooth thermal printer in the app and print kitchen tickets and customer receipts as usual.
What happens if the internet drops?
Card payments need a connection, exactly like any terminal. The difference is that a phone falls back to mobile data, so it keeps working in situations where a terminal sitting on the restaurant Wi-Fi would stop.
Can several staff take payments at the same time?
Yes. Every phone signed in to your restaurant can take payments, and each sale is logged to whoever took it. No second terminal to rent, no per-device fee.
